Joe Qin, President and Wai Kee Kau Chair Professor of Data Science, who greeted the students in his welcome address as they embark on a new chapter at Lingnan, encouraging them to learn from the passion of the Hong Kong athletes competing in the Pairs Olympics - dream big and enjoy the journey. - 2:32曾憲發教授 — 探索淡水生態的奧秘 Prof Alphonse Tsang Hin-fat— Diving Deep into Freshwater Biodiversity【探索淡水生態的奧秘】嶺南大學科學教研組曾憲發教授潛入黃龍坑溪流，研究本地與外來魚類的互動，探索入侵物種對淡水生態的影響。他獲得逾110萬港元的「優配研究金」資助，專注研究尼羅口孵非鯽（俗稱福壽魚）如何影響本地魚類及淡水食物網結構。透過實地捕捉與實驗室分析，揭示競爭與食性變化，為生態保育提供科學依據。曾教授亦積極推動教育與政策參與，期望透過知識傳播與數據庫建立，提升公眾意識並協助政府制定保育策略。【Diving Deep into Freshwater Biodiversity】Prof Alphonse Tsang Hin-fat, Research Assistant Professor of Science Unit, dives into Wong Lung Hang Stream studying native and invasive fish species to understand ecological impacts.With over HK$1,117,356 in General Research Fund support, he investigates the impact of Nile tilapia on local fish and freshwater food web structures. Through field sampling and lab analysis, he uncovers competition and dietary shifts to inform conservation strategies.Beyond research, he advocates for education and policy engagement, aiming to raise public awareness and support government decisions through data-driven insights.
